The Hong Kong Association of Energy Engineers ("HKAEE", the "Association") is deeply saddened by the passing of Ir Chan Sou Tung, Richard, a Director of the Association. He passed away on 7 April 2021 at the age of 94.

Richard was one of the pioneers in promoting energy engineering in the building industry. In 1980, he co-founded The Hong Kong Association of Energy Engineers and was the Association’s President in 1981. Richard had been the Chairman of the Association’s Mainland Liaison Committee since 2009. Under his leadership, the HKAEE provided many opportunities for our members and industry professionals to participate in various technical exchange seminars with the counterpart societies, universities, and government departments in Mainland China.

Some of many visits organised by the HKAEE under Richard’s leadership included Technical Visit Tour to Beijing and Inner Mongolia in 2006, Joint Technical Visit to Liaoning Province, PRC in 2009, Technical Visit to Engineering Plants and Companies in Guangdong Nanhai in 2015, HKAEE Technical Visit 2018 Energy Engineering at Shenyang, Liaoning Province, PRC, etc.

The Association’s Board of Directors would like to extend our deepest condolences to Richard’s family and loved ones, and express our gratitude for his contributions, professional services and unfailing devotion to the Association, other professional bodies, and the building industry at large in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

We all will miss him a lot.
